Why General Translation Services?

Let us explain this by defining two important terms. Translation focuses on written documents. Interpreting focuses on real-time conversation between two or more people. We do not provide interpreting services. We only provide translation and document editing services.

Pass It On Services believes it is important for deaf people to have access to important English documents in their own language, American Sign Language (ASL). At the same time, there are times when deaf people want to compose important documents in English whether for personal or business reasons. For some, it increases their efficiency and reduces their frustration when they have access to translation and editing services that can help them make sure they are communicating clearly in English.

• English to ASL
• Hourly Fee. We take the English document and translate it to ASL. Unless there is not enough time, we write our ASL translation in SignWriting. This is usually our intermediate step before one of the following steps.
• Hourly Fee. Some projects require a video translation. We have made arrangements with Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs to use their studio to produce our video translations. Their staff have significant experience in videoing ASL translations since one of their projects is the ASL Bible Translation.
• Hourly Fee.Some projects are more informal where the client would like us to explain the contents of the English document. In those cases, we will take the English document and discuss words they are not familiar with, and make sure the client has a full understanding of the document.
• ASL to English
  • Hourly Fee. For some situations, the client may want to explain to us in ASL what they want the English document to look like. Then we create the document in English. We will work with the client to edit the document until he/she is satisfied.
  • Hourly Fee. In other situations, the client may want us just to help with the editing of documents. In those situations, we will work with the client to edit the document until he/she is satisfied.
• Block Agreements. We do offer Block Agreements which allow organizations to pre-purchase blocks of hours at a discounted rate rather than pay the full invoice hourly rate.
